JMT Auto Limited, deploys SHOPtrack
JMT Auto Limited, India’s largest automobile gear maker, has 80 CNC machines in its world-class manufacturing facility in Jamshedpur. The facility is spread over 3 plants 2 km. apart. Earlier, production data was collected manually by a person visiting each machine every hour. The value was limited because it was inaccurate and had no details of machine down times.
Mr. Duggal, Managing Director, now gets the reports on all the plants sitting at his desk. Mr. Satpathy, Manager-IT, says "SHOPtrack gives us a true picture of cycle and idle times on the machines and enables us to evaluate operator efficiency. We study each day’s reports every evening and take corrective action immediately, and there has been a marked improvement in our productivity since we installed the system. We now plan to network all the plants through fibre optic links to get online production data from SHOPtrack."
